3 Reason Why IPV6 connectivity is not used

slow adoption of ipv6

Even after knowing many advantages of ipv6 over IPV4 still Transition of IPV6 is slow because of Many reasons. In this article I’m gonna share few reason for the slow adoption of ipv6 connectivity and why should we switch to IPV6

Why should we use IPV6

Nowadays internet users are rapidly increasing ,before it was enough to provide address for every computer,Smartphones,& other devices on this planet, unfortunately, the designers of ipv4 connectivity dramatically underestimated the rapid growth of internet which threatened to an exhaust of IP pool of IPV4.Without unique IP address people unable to connect the internet because IPV4 addresses are 32 bits long  (4.3×109 ) which have only 4.3 billion address .                                                                                                                                                             To overcome the crisis of IP address designers implemented ,IPV6 next generation protocol. IPv6 addresses are 128 bits long  (3.4×1038)  which has 340 undecillion address. IPV6 has many advantages over IPV4

Reason for slow Transition of IPV6 connectivity

     1.  Successfully  use of NAT :

nat

Nat was originally created as the workaround for the crisis of IP address.NAT has extended the lifetime of IPV4 and it was successfully deployed on the internet.Nat which conserved the number of IPV4 address, Because of that , the adoption of IPV6 has been slow.

   2. Expensive :

expensive                                                                                                                                                                                                     Most of the switches and routers which are compatible with IPV4 connectivity it doesn’t operate in IPV6 protocol.Replacing all those routers takes more time and Replacing all the switches and Routers with an old one is highly expensive . To deploy IPV6 we need additional equipment to replace old equipment which would be expensive

   3. Slow Adoption of IPV6 :

Internet society carried out an old IPv6 Launch day on June 6, 2012, who planned for the permanent deployment of IPV6 but in recent years adoption of ipv6 was very slow.It takes more time for ISP for successful deployment of IPV6

Conclusion:

we can soon expect the faster adoption of IPV6 in the future. To find out whether you are already using IPV6 please visit GoogleIPV6 test Site
