This type of exposition can allow their viewpoint to be discussed and their position on the topic explained.

View

Having a general topic can allow people writing the essay to formulate their own interpretations and then seek to support their points in the written document. Each person can approach the topic from different angles depending on how they interpret the assignment. Instead of having one definitive answer to the concept being assigned, their unique point of view can be presented in the essay. The student can write an informed opinion by using their research to logically address the ideas being made in the introduction. Establishing their views during the essay’s introduction paragraph and then backing up the information throughout the essay can be the basis for student’s comprehension level.

Opening

A person can use the introduction paragraph of their essay to open their topic. This part of the essay, a single paragraph, establishes what will be addressed throughout the main body paragraphs of the document. People can define their thesis or argument in the introduction and present an overview of the concepts that will be discussed. The person can also define the goals of the essay when writing their introduction. The introduction is the opening of the essay and can set the tone for the other paragraphs within the essay.

Format

The introduction can be a shorter paragraph in relation to the main body paragraphs. It can be appropriate to write at least three sentences of varying length to introduce the thesis and the purpose of the information being presented in the essay. It can be the author’s goal to set the tone of the essay during the opening paragraph. At the closing of the opening paragraph, a reader will transition to the initial paragraph of the body section of the essay.

Idea

The body section of the essay can be presented with as many paragraphs that are needed to support the ideas introduced in the opening paragraph. The body paragraph section of an essay is the area where someone can address the point being made in the introduction in a logical progression. Each paragraph can encapsulate a different idea relating to supporting the concept presented in the opening.

Explain

As the writer moves through their explanation of the ideas being explained, they can separate unique concepts into one or several paragraphs depending on the complexity of each point. An essay can have as many paragraphs that are needed but people can find that having at least three body paragraphs is appropriate to develop their ideas.

Review

As the writer presents their thoughts they can review their work from the mindset of the reader and decide where a new paragraph should end and a new one begin. They can separate their ideas into more readable portions as they move the reader from one concept to the next. The paragraph can indicate to the reader where a specific concept has been explained and that a new paragraph will address the next point being made. Each body paragraph can draw the reader through the document as they learn the authors view points.

Edit

Someone can find is less difficult to begin writing their body paragraphs without stopping to establish separate paragraphs. This could allow them the ability to write the complete essay before editing their work to establish separate paragraphs for a more readable structure. They could ask other trusted sources to review the essay and recommend corrections that could be made to make the essay flow better for the reader. Using this advice and forming their own opinion the author can begin to edit their body paragraphs. By reviewing their larger paragraphs they could find that more than one point is being presented and separate into two or further specific paragraphs. This can require the author to then readjust sentence structure to address the transition and closing of each paragraph. Getting their thoughts out and starting to write can allow them to write a well-structured paper. Then they can go back and begin to edit their document. During editing, they can strengthen weaker paragraphs of the essay and develop complete concepts.

Summary

Moving from the body section an author can then write their single conclusion paragraph. They can use this endpoint to bring closure to the ideas that were presented in the body section. Summarizing the points made in the body paragraphs can indicate to the reader that it is the end of the essay. The conclusion can be the counterpoint to the introduction. It can address the points that were made and explain what was learned in the essay.

When someone writes an essay they can use paragraph structure to illustrate their point of view to the reader. The author has introduced the topic, then used the body to support their view and finally draws the essay to a conclusion. Each section of the essay furthers the concepts being presented.
