How to Make a Podcast Successful: Essential Tips

How to Make a Podcast Successful Essential Tips

To broadcast or not to broadcast; that is the question. Podcasts are very interesting and promising element for business, but few aspiring entrepreneurs know how to approach to podcasting to make it maximum advantageous. If you wonder how this type of content can help your company, this article is just for you!

Below are six secrets of a striking podcast.

#1 Stick to Your Plan

If you want to use as another kind of content that brilliantly fits into your content strategy, you need to think through all the details.

  •  For what purpose you’re going to run podcasts?
  • Whether they will be a part of your text content or self-identity?
  • What exactly will you tell people?
  • Will you record by yourself or hire a broadcaster?
  • Will you run podcasts by yourself or hire a team of experts and external specialists?

For sure, you will need a content plan, including the answers to the following:

  •   How often do you plan to release podcasts?
  • What issues are you going to consider in, at least, ten first releases?

Also be sure to choose the material for the first audios in advance so that not to improvise at the time of speaking.

#2 Don’t Turn a Podcast into Reading a Book

This is especially true for broadcasters who’re also writers. Although it’s very tempting to use your book as the source for materials, please don’t mix audio books and podcasts. Instead, show your personality. Add emotions, live speech, stories on the subject, etc.

Reciting a book, you will speak smoothly and quietly. You will give some value, but not the personality that most listeners need. Well, if you still want to use something from your writings, let it be a short paragraph or a finished thought (for example, an answer to a question from a subscriber).

#3 Work on Titles

This advice can be successfully applied to almost any content, and podcasts are no exception. You will need to think through catchy headlines for each episode. And if you plan to disclose the same topic in multiple records, then you’ll also need a general title that should display the essence of the chosen topic and catch the listener. For example, “A podcast about selling texts” conveys the essence, but it’s very typical while “How to learn to write selling texts, even if you hate writing” sounds much more tempting.

Please don’t name podcasts like “Part 1,” “Part 2,” etc. The header of each record should tell potential listeners why they need to listen to this podcast. Ideally, how this podcast will make their lives better.

#4 Narrow the Niche

Do not try to cover all at once; rather focus on a narrow niche to cover interested listeners. If your niche is too wide, choose a few narrow areas and do podcasts on more specific issues.

For example, if you’re speaking of the development of children, you can select the following directions: the development of newborns, the development of children up to 1 yea, etc. Either you can proceed from the areas of development: the musical development of the child, the development through play, etc.

#5 Listen to Your Audience

This rule also applies to each type of content. What you do should be interesting and useful to your audience. No other options. Well, this is so obvious that many entrepreneurs forget about it and start to write/record what’s interesting to them but doesn’t meet the interests of their target listeners.

Your audience is very happy to tell you what it likes and hates. Just listen carefully!

  • What podcasts got more feedback? What are the typical comments and opinions?
  •  What are the questions in response to your emailing?
  •  What are the topics discussed on forums and thematic communities?
  •  What materials of the competitors get more likes, comments, and reposts.

Answer these questions, and you’ll find a lot of ideas that is guaranteed to be useful to your audience.

#6 Keep Quality in Priority

Ideally, use the services of a professional record studio to get a clean sound without noise or interference. Also, do not forget about training unless you speak clearly, audibly and to the point.

Before recording:

  • Make a thesis plan, marking important moments that you should highlight.
  • Speak the material aloud several times in front of the mirror. Keep track of your facial expressions as they greatly affect your speech.
